A small, ancient church graces the town of Ormelle, not far from the Maccari estate vineyards. Founded in the early 13th century by the Knights Templar, it boasted even then the fine vineyards which are still producing prized wines today. To honour those knights and the local centuries-old traditions of winemaking, Italo Maccari gave the name "Templaris" to his most prestigious line of wines.

For over one hundred years now, the Maccari family have been crafting noble wines, doing so with passion, with never-flagging dedication, and with creative flair, but always in full respect of local winemaking traditions. But their own personal contribution has been to understand and meet the needs of contemporary restaurateurs and tourism centres, by ensuring the satisfaction of their most faithful customers.
